The Victory!
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. Matthew 10:16 KJV
Many of us in the body of Christ are contending with the principalities which are prevalent in our societies. But also wrestling with our own flesh, for we know that if we sow to the flesh we will reap from the flesh its attributes which weaken us spiritually.
I call them anointing robbers, why? Because as Christians we are anointed, appointed, called and conditioned, and allotted power from on high to fight spiritual warfare. The bible teaches us the Spirit wars against the flesh and flesh wars against the Spirit. This is talking about our personal fleshly desires which hinder us from progressing in the anointing of God in our lives. Many times Christians want to fight with principalities but fail to continue to conquer their own flesh.
“This then is what I mean. Let your lives be guided by the Spirit, and then you will certainly not indulge the cravings of your lower natures.
“For the cravings of the lower nature are opposed to those of the Spirit, and the cravings of the Spirit are opposed to those of the lower nature; because these are antagonistic to each other, so that you cannot do everything to which you are inclined. Galatians 5:16-17 WNT
Honestly if you looked at yourself today, then examined your spiritual life according to the word of God, where would you find yourself on a scale of 1 through 10? Although it is true that every Christian isn’t called to pulpit ministry, they are called to be witnesses of the gospel, for even our lifestyle and actions are a witness to who, what, and where we are spiritually in the eyes of those around us.
We can be a source of inspiration or offense, we can be a source of joy or sadness, we can be a motivator or a disincentive. When we live our convictions based upon the unchanging word of God we progressively become more Christ-like or “ Christian”. When we fall constantly before the eyes of those who we preach or witness to about the enabling power of the Holy Spirit, we become a reproach in their sight and our words lose any weight they might have gained if we contended with our flesh and won those personal battles in our lives.
A testimony has great weight and worth when it has the validity of a victorious lifestyle behind it. Overcoming our flesh is the first enemy in the battles of spiritual warfare, God prepares us daily for greater things as we confront those everyday things that hinder us, the little foxes that spoil the vine are usually those little things in our own lives that we overlook thinking they are harmless when in fact they have the potential to devastate us. Therefore we must learn the value of and the practice of walking in the Spirit.
(12) Therefore, brethren, it is not to our lower natures that we are under obligation that we should live by their rule.
(13) For if you so live, death is near; but if, through being under the sway of the spirit, you are putting your old bodily habits to death, you will live.
(14) For those who are led by God's Spirit are, all of them, God's sons. Romans 8:12-14 WNT
Yes Brethren there is victory in Jesus and only through the application of his word into our daily lives,
